This page explains our high school graduation requirements and some requirements for acceptance into college.
Courses and Credits required for Graduation: *4 credits of English (4 years) *4 credits of Social Studies (4 years, including Citizenship & Government, World History, U.S. History, Geography, and Economics) *3 credits of Science (3 years, including Biology and either Chemistry or Physics) *3 credits of Math (3 years, including Geometry, Algebra II or the technical equivalent, and Statistics & Probability) *1 credit of Phy Ed (1/2 year in grade 9 and 1/2 year in grade 10) *.5 credit of Health (1/2 year in grade 10) *1 credit of a Fine Art (Band, Choir, Art, 1 year)
*2 credits of a Foreign Language (Not required to graduate high school; Required for entrance into many four year colleges)
*5.5 to 7.5 elective credits are needed to meet required total.
*24 credits are needed to graduate
Possible Tests Required for College Entrance: *ACT or SAT (usually taken during the spring of your junior year) *ACCUPLACER (usually taken after acceptance into a community/technical college)
College test requirements vary, so be sure to check with the colleges you are interested in so you know what to take. |
