Keith Secola, renowned Native American folk singer/songwriter, spent a day at North Woods School on December 2 performing and conducting an "expressive writing" workshop for students. His back up band consisted of four North Woods students, Gage Koskovich
(drums), Rachel Land (keyboards), Greg Broshears
(guitar), Samantha Barnett (bass), and Mr. Metsa
(guitar).
Nett Lake students were invited for the 11:00 AM concert in the gym, and all North Woods K-6 students also attended. In the afternoon, they performed for the high school as well. Students had a great time listening and participating during the concerts. The students in the writer's workshop also enjoyed the experience.
We want to give a shout out to Dawn Kempainnen-Olson at Mesabi Range Community College for including us in her grant and give special thanks to Korynn Fisher for providing the terrific photos (see below)!
